Expeditious Reconstruction of Virtual Cultural Heritage Sites

(external site)

Project Info

The aim of this project is to develop a tool for archaeologists that allows the reconstruction and visualisation of archaeological sites with complete buildings (including interiors and exteriors) from georeferenced information, and based on some parametric values in accordance with the rules defined for the time period considered and the corresponding architectural features. The resulting buildings can be created without any initial knowledge and according to the set of rules that are defined. Existing buildings, whether they are well preserved or in ruins, or even buildings that no longer exist, but for which textual information exists (existing, for instance, in old books or documents), are modelled from that information in order to create some rules that will work as constraints of the generation process.
