Following a comparative study of test pattern generation algorithms for boundary scan boards (where each algorithm is compared in terms of the number of test patterns generated, the necessary test application time and their diagnosis capability), an adaptive TPG algorithm is proposed, fulfilling two main requirements: complete fault detection and fast application time. The proposed solution may be applied both for fault detection and for diagnostic operations, in the latter case through the application of a second set of test vectors.
