CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING
PDEQB – the Doctoral Programme in Chemical and Biological Engineering at FEUP prepares highly qualified human resources in Chemical Engineering and related areas. The programme is supported by academic staff of more than 40 Ph.D.s, affiliated with the Chemical Engineering Department (DEQ/FEUP), the Associated Laboratory LSRE/LCM, and the research laboratories LEPAE and CEFT, whose research and development activities cover a wide range of topics, ranging from theoretical and fundamental aspects to the experimental and applied areas of Chemical and Biological Engineering, and comprehend wide-ranging collaborative work with leading industries in this country and abroad.
This Doctoral Program is a highly successful program, which exists since 2007, producing ca. 14 PhD thesis/year.
The program covers a wide range of topics, from theoretical and fundamental aspects to experimental and applied areas of Chemical and Biological Engineering, including collaborative work with leading industries in the country and abroad. PDEQB has provided, along with the years, skills, resources, results, expertise and international recognition, as well as industrial trust and partnership, focusing on innovative processes and products responding to current societal challenges.
The Doctoral Programme in Chemical and Biological Engineering targets both national and international students and is designed for excellence and competitiveness at the international level. It aims to prepare selected students for leadership in research and development careers in industry, academia, and independent entrepreneurial initiatives.
CEFT – Transport Phenomena Research Center
LEPABE – Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy
LSRE-LCM – A partnership between LSRE – Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering and LCM – Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials
ALICE, Associate Laboratory for Innovation in Chemical Engineering, has been approved for Associate Laboratory Status. The ALICE consortium is composed of CEFT, LEPABE, and LSRE-LCM, three R&D Units based at the Department of Chemical Engineering at FEUP.
