6 & 7 April 2021
25 Papers presented in 9 Technical Sessions
The DSIE - Doctoral Symposium in Informatics Engineering is part of the "Methodologies for Scientific Research" course held by the Doctoral Program in Informatics Engineering (ProDEI) at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP).
The next event is the 16th edition, and will be held fully virtual.
DSIE'21 calls for the contribution of researchers and students alike! All research Papers and Posters are welcome as long as they are current and relevant to the community.
The main areas of interest for DSIE'21 fall within the following topics but are not limited to:
DSIE'21 welcomes researchers, PhD and MsC students to submit their current scientific and technical work.

DSIE'21 invites authors to submit either full papers or posters. These are required to be written in proper English and, most importantly, to be original work. Submissions will be blindly peer-reviewed. The announcement of the outcome will be given to all authors with no exception.
Posters should follow the provided templates in LaTeX and pptx. The posters are A0 in size in portrait style (841 mm x 1189 mm). The use of text should be limited, ideas should be mostly portrayed with diagrams.
Research papers must follow the format of the IEEE Template Sponsored Conferences and Symposia with 8 pages at most, including additional resources. These shall be submitted in electronic form (PDF format) through the online CMT conference management system.
Multimedia material such as videos/demos/others are strongly encouraged and should be included in papers or posters by means of an online public link reference (TinyURL, QR code, other) in the paper or poster document itself, to later be indexed in the DSIE'21 web page for participant visualization. However, due to storage and management limitations, some requirements need to be satisfied:
All accepted papers and posters will have an opportunity to discuss their work with the community in a dedicated session.
Accepted papers and posters are obliged to be presented by at least one of the authors at the conference in an exposition including Q&A.
All inquiries and correspondence must be addressed to DSIE'21 Editorial Assistant through: dsie2021@fe.up.pt.
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, DSIE'21 will be held fully virtual. We encourage originality and innovation to facilitate the dissemination and visualization of the works in presentation.
Professor Koen Bertels currently is a professor at the University of Porto and the University of Leuven at Belgium, and previously was a professor at Delft University and head responsible for the Quantum Computer Architecture Lab. His research activities focus on quantum computing and more specifically on the definition and implementation of a scalable quantum micro and system architecture definition.
He is the founder of a company called QBee.eu, a company focused on the specification of micro-architectural support for the control of the quantum instructions and how the quantum accelerator is connected and integrated into a larger system design, and how classical logic are combined with quantum logic, thought the specification of a new programming language OPENQL, a template for the micro-architecture and the QBeeSim simulator to execute any quantum logic operation.
Professor Bertels is a widely respected and influential researcher in quantum computing with many publications related to quantum application algorithms.
