Text Mining and Applications (TeMA 2017)

The 7th edition of the Text Mining and Applications (TeMA 2017) track will be a forum for researchers working in Human Language Technologies, i.e. Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computational Linguistics (CL), Natural Language Engineering (NLE), Text Mining (TM), Information Retrieval (IR), and related areas.

The most natural form of sharing knowledge is indeed through textual documents. Especially on the Web, a huge amount of textual information is openly published every day, on many different topics and written in natural language, thus offering new insights and many opportunities for innovative applications of Human Language Technologies.

Following recent advances in general IA sub-fields such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML), text mining is now even more valuable as tool for bridging the gap between language theories and effective use of natural language contents, for harnessing the power of semi-structured and unstructured data, and to enable important applications in real-world heterogeneous environments. Both hidden and new knowledge can be discovered by using text mining methods, at multiple levels and in multiple dimensions, and often with high commercial value.

Authors are invited to submit their papers on any of the aforementioned issues. Papers will be blindly reviewed by three members of the Program Committee. Best papers will be published in the EPIA proceedings, by Springer, in the LNAI series. Additional papers with sufficiently high quality for presentation at TeMA 2017 will be published in a conference proceedings book.

Paper submission

Submissions must be full technical papers on substantial, original, and previously unpublished research. Papers can have a maximum length of 12 pages. All papers should be prepared according to the formatting instructions of Springer LNAI series. Authors should omit their names from the submitted papers, and should take reasonable care to avoid indirectly disclosing their identity. All papers should be submitted in PDF format through the conference management website at: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=epia2017

Special Issue of the Journal Information:

Authors of the best papers presented at the TeMA 2017 track will be invited to submit extended versions of their manuscripts for a special issue of the Open Access Journal Information (ISSN 2078-2489; CODEN: INFOGG), indexed by Compendex (EI), INSPEC (IET), the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI – Web of Science), and Scopus.

Authors of papers published on the special issue will not be charged the 300 CHF associated to the APC of regular submissions to ‘Information’. Further information on this Special Issue can be found at the journal website: http://www.mdpi.com/journal/information/special_issues/TeMA_17
