What have I done...

In this page you can read about the things that I've done in my life, mainly academically and professionally.

1984

  • I was born in the 23rd of January of 1984.

1998-2000

  • I was a member of PTHelp, a team made of users of the Portuguese IRC network, PTnet, responsible for helping other users. I used the nickname Kark0v.

1999-2001

2001-2002

  • In September 2001 I transferred to Filipa de Vilhena High School, in Porto, for my 12th grade.
  • During my study time in Filipa de Vilhena I was a member of the Students Union of the school.
  • While a member of the Students Union I helped organizing many activities and was the responsible for organizing the end of the year trip to Salou, in Spain. In the end of the scholar year the Students Union received an Honorific Mention from the Direction of the school.
  • I finished my high school studies with an average of 16, in a 1 to 20 scale.

2002-2004

2003

  • In spring 2003 I went to a Formation Camp for Summer Camp Monitors, with CAMTIL an Association seeded in Coimbra, Portugal.
  • In summer 2003 I was part of a team of CAMTIL monitors responsible for organizing the "Melgas 1" Summer Camp, for young kids with 13 and 14 years old.
  • I was a member of FEUP’s Students Union from May 2003 to January 2004.
  • During October and December 2003 I was responsible for organizing the Guitarmageddon 2003, a Garage Band contest for bands formed by FEUP students.

2004

  • In summer 2004 I was part of a team of CAMTIL monitors responsible for organizing the “Aranhiços 3” Summer Camp, for young kids with 10 and 11 years old.

2004-2009

2005

  • In March 2005 I joined the Board of European Students of Technology, Local Group of Porto.
  • In September 2005 I joined the technical team that supports the events that take place in FEUP's Great Auditorium. I helped in many events as a member of this team.
  • In September 2005 I was elected webmaster of BEST Porto, for one year. I took a Workshop for Light Technicians while a member of FEUP's Great Auditorium team.
  • In December 2005 I was elected Main Organizer of BEST Porto's Summer Course 2006.

2006

  • From February to April 2006 I was a collaborator at JuniFEUP (Junior Enterprise of FEUP), member of JADE (European Confederation of Junior Enterprises). Helping in the elaboration of JuniNews, a newsletter about JuniFEUP and its work.
  • In September 2006 took place the the BEST Porto’s Summer Course, about Robotics and entitled "Wake Up! Join the Robolution", of which I was the Main Organizer.
  • In September 2006 he was elected Human Resources Responsible of BEST Porto, for one year.

2007

  • From February to October of 2007 I worked in part-time in FEUP at the Department of Electrotechnical and Computers Engineering in the Technical Support Office, providing support to teachers and other workers at the department.
  • In March 2007 I took a Workshop on Advanced Linux Systems Administration, at FEUP.
  • From March to May 2007 I started collaborating with "Radio Engenharia" a amateur web based radio station of FEUP. I had a program with a friend of mine about Internet and Blogs, called "Ao Fundo da Rede" (To the bottom of the Network). We did eleven programs.
  • In September 2007 I joined the team responsible for writing the Students Newspaper at FEUP (Jornal de Engenharia). I wrote several articles for various editions of the Newspaper.

2008

  • From February to July of 2008 I studied in Via University College, in Horsens, Denmark, under the European Union Erasmus Programme.
  • From April to June 2008 I played football in Vitus Vikings amateur football team, from Horsens, Denmark.
  • In October 2008 I founded The Usability Page, together with André Lamelas, Felipe Ávila da Costa and Paulo Pereira. The Usability Page is a website dedicated to Usability.
  • From November 2008 to January 2009 I will be a monitor of first year students from the Integrated Master of Informatics and Computing Engineering, at FEUP. I will help them with a course called "Projecto FEUP" (FEUP's Project) that aims to help integrate them in the Faculty's environment and teach them some basics about projects and reports.

2009

  • From March to July of 2009 I did my final project in a Dutch Web Development company, Tam Tam, under the European Union Erasmus-Internship Programme
  • During my project at Tam Tam I developed a project entitled "Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis on Content Management System Projects". In this project I defined, characterized and compared different scenarios that could improve the way Tam Tam develops their Content Management System Projects. For this project I developed a Web Application with Microsoft Silverlight 3 beta to implement a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis methodology, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This Web Application helped in the comparison of the different scenarios defined. This project was graded 17/20.
