1. Dates, Location and Schedule

The “BIN@PORTO 2018” event will take place from 29th to 31st of October 2018 and will have different venues. In addition, on the evening of 28 October, all international delegates are invited for a welcoming event (subject to pre-registration). Please check the programme for details.

2. Organisation

This event is organised by the staff of Image, Communication and Cooperation Services (SICC), hereinafter “organisation committee” of the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto.

3. Online registration form & type of participation

The participants need to register online and choose the activities they want to be involved in. After registration, they will receive an auto-reply stating the submission of the registration along with the information how they will be kept up to date about the event.

By registering online, the participants confirm of having acquainted and agreed with BIN@ privacy statement and that they have read the present Conditions & Guidelines.

BIN@PORTO 2018 event has two types of participation:

Attend the Open Sessions and/or a Debate (the latter being part of Focus Sessions) Attend the Open Sessions and/or a Debate (the latter being part of Focus Sessions)
Participate in the pre-scheduled B2B meetings (part of of Focus Sessions) Attend the Technology Showroom & Business Showcase
Present a business/technology/project at the Technology Showroom & Business Showcase
Participate in the thematic Action Tank Session(s) or Complementary Event (three-day Co-Creation Workshop)
Be a sponsor of the event

 

3.1. Registration for the Open Sessions / Action Tank Sessions / Complementary Event / Social Programme & Networking

The prior registration is mandatory for participating in the Open Sessions (29 October), Action Tank Sessions (30 October), Complementary Event (29 – 31 October) and Social Programme & Networking (29, 31 October).

IMPORTANT NOTE
Please be aware that once you register for the  Complementary Event, Co-Creation Workshop: Challenges for Design towards Sustainable Development Goals (2030 Agenda), you are not able to take part in other content parts of the programme that require online pre-registration as this workshop lasts over the course of the three days of the event and requires hands-on and active participation.

3.2. Registration for the Focus Sessions (Brokerage Day)

The prior registration is mandatory for participating in Focus Sessions (31 October). This content part of the event includes (1) B2B Meetings and (2) Debate: Empowering Innovators for a Sustainable Localism. If you would like to take part in B2B Meetings, you need to describe in the registration form the type of partners you would like to meet, the focus intended for the meeting and the goals you want to achieve.

3.3. Registration for the Technology Showroom & Business Showcase (Brokerage Day)

The exhibition on 31 October will be located at UPTEC (Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto). The exhibition areas are easily accessible to all participants, and if you have any business/ technology/ project you wish to present, please choose this option in the online registration form.

IMPORTANT NOTE  (Brokerage Day)
Being present with and representing your company/start-up/project/technology at the Technology Showroom & Business Showcase (31 October) requires being present with a stand all day, thus during this day there should be always someone available on the exhibition area and behind the stand.
Advice: In order your company/project would not miss out on other opportunities available during this Brokerage Day (mentioned in point 3.2 above), and in case there are many of you presenting a company/project, you can divide your time so that one takes the maximum out of B2B Meetings or Debate while another represents the company with the stand. Consequently, the registration of every member/representative of the company/project is required.

4. Social Programme & Networking

The participants will benefit from a social programme free of charge, offered by the organisation committee. Participants who wish to benefit from this programme need to show their interest by filling in these options in the online registration form. The Social Programme includes:

  • Welcome for international delegates and guests
  • Several Informal Lunches @ BIN Lounge
  • Visit to Lionesa Business Center 
  • Visit to Livraria Lello (*)
  • Gala Dinner @ Pestana Palácio do Freixo hotel (*)
  • Several networking breaks with catering included
  • The Loop Farewell Party @ UPTEC

(*) Please also note that the visit to Livraria Lello and the participation at the Gala Dinner on October, 30th is subject to invitation.

5. Registration Deadline

Online registrations are open until Sunday, 19 October 2018.

6. Cancellation Policy

In case the number of participants is not sufficient for this event to take place, the organisation committee will inform the participating institutions and individual participants about the cancellation of this event until September 30th the latest.

Cancellations made by the participating institutions and/or individual participants that registered online, must be e-mailed to feupbin@fe.up.pt until September 30th.

7. Registration Fees

FREE OF CHARGE PARTICIPATION.

8. Promotion

The organisation committee is responsible for advertising this event in general and social media, and by other relevant means.

9. Security, Damages and Loss of Personal Property

A separate room is made available for the participating institutions where to leave laptops, merchandising materials, documents and other items during the breaks of the event and at the end of the day. The organisation committee does not take responsibility or liability for damage to, or loss of any institution’s property left on the exhibition booths prior, during or after the meeting. The organisation committee cannot be held responsible for any of the damage to or disappearance of institution’s materials, when occurred out of the meeting’s schedule.

10. Rights and Responsibility

The organisation committee reserves the right to change some of the information hereby provided or some of the conditions, and to cancel, change or move a reservation to another room or booth whenever required. Every effort will be made to notify the institutions as well as individual participants about any schedule changes or cancellations.
