Introduction

Web Servers @ FEUP

These two servers are available at FEUP:

Both servers use the same file system for student pages. This means a page available in one server will also be available in the other.

A file called path/to/yourfile.php stored inside a public_html folder in your personal folder will be available both at: http://gnomo.fe.up.pt/~upxxxxxxxxx/path/to/yourfile.php as http://web.fe.up.pt/~upxxxxxxxxx/path/to/yourfile.php.

Accessing

Each student has a personal folder that can be accessed in many different ways. PHP pages should be stored in a public_html folder inside this folder. To access this folder we recommend the following procedures:

As an alternative you might try connecting using a free SFTP client like:

Alternative Method: Local Development

Another alternative would be to install the full development stack in your own computer:

sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 php5-sqlite
sudo nano apache2/php.ini # turn display_errors and display_startup_errors On
sudo service apache2 start
sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 php5-sqlite
sudo nano apache2/php.ini # turn display_errors and display_startup_errors On
