The 15th International Research Symposium on Service Excellence in Management

The first QUIS symposium took place in Sweden 1988. QUIS is held every second year and attracts around 200-250 leading researchers and executives from all over the world.

“The QUIS symposium brings together the best interdisciplinary academic research and management practices in a forum to advance the study of service management, service dominant logic, service leadership, customer experience, technology and innovations in service.”

The pursuit of service excellence is a never-ending quest by organizations seeking to achieve outstanding performance in their field. Benchmarking one’s own approaches against other organizations best practices and gaining insights from their experiences are powerful means for enhancing results.

The objectives of QUIS’ unique high-level sharing and networking events are to:

  • Promote the continuing improvement of service quality and excellence in all economic sectors around the world.
  • Gather thought leaders from the global business and academic communities for an open exchange of insight and experiences.
  • Share and advance the state of the art in theory and practice through presentation and discussion of scholarly research and successful business strategies.

QUIS15

Since 1988, the QUIS symposium brings together the best interdisciplinary academic research and management practices in a forum to advance the study of service management, service dominant logic, service leadership, service quality, customer relationship management, technology and innovations in services.

In 2017, QUIS will head towards the edge of Europe and its Atlantic front, to the beautiful city of Porto, Portugal, for its 15th edition. Known mainly for its trade in Port wine, which travels along the east-west trending Douro river that starts in Spain, Porto has for its long history been known as a cosmopolitan trading center that blends perfectly its modern and historic aspects.

QUIS15 will be hosted by the School of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), in conjunction with CTF, Service Research Center, Karlstad University, Sweden, the Center for Services Leadership, W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University, USA, and with the Center for Hospitality Research, School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University, USA on June 12-15, 2017. FEUP has started a pioneering Master Program in Service Engineering and Management, in 2007, and is currently the coordinator of the Marie Curie Innovative Training Program in Service Design for Innovation (SDIN). FEUP has also recently launched a Product and Service Development Lab.
